Washington State New Works For Percussion Project
The Washington State New Works for Percussion Project was founded by Melanie Voytovich and Andrew Angell in 2014. Our mission is to facilitate the creation and advancement of repertoire for percussion through yearly commissions. Pieces are premiered at the Washington State Day of Percussion run by PAS each year.
For our inaugural year we commissioned a trio from composer Shawn Crouch. The piece was titled Time Management and scored for both pitched and unpitched percussion. Time Management was premiered by the Plexure Trio (Melanie Voytovich, Andrew Angell, Miho Takekawa) on Sunday, April 26th, 2015.
For the 2015-2016 season we have selected to work with composer Elliot Cole, who will be composing a duo for us. The piece will be premiered on Sunday, April 24th at the University of Washington.
