Digikalimbas

Electronic Kalimba Controllers

Digikalimbas are instruments I built for students to perform with in a multi-arts collaborative event and Edmonds Community College. The event, called "Shift Happens" brought together the music, visual arts, and physics departments to showcase how all the disciplines can be combined to create unique and engaging experiences for audiences. The digikalimbas were designed and built by me. The electronics are based on an Arduino microcontroller, and the pieces were cut out using the EdCC's Physics Department's laser cutter. After the initial performance the instruments were changed from using a USB connection to wireless communication using XBee radios.
